Breakfast smoothies are ridiculously quick and easy to make…Like, all you need to do is put all your ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend like there’s no tomorrow. A two-year-old can do it! Today I’ve got a super simple healthy breakfast smoothie recipe that is great for every day, since it’s made with only two basic ingredients: banana and almond butter. You probably have both at home most of the time.
You will love how smooth, sweet and creamy this everyday banana breakfast shake is! It is SO tasty, filling and versatile – the perfect easy breakfast idea!
Everyday Breakfast Smoothie
Okay, I don’t want to brag, but I’m super proud of this simple smoothie. It’s creamy, refreshing and just so good…you wouldn’t believe this is just a banana and almond butter! OMG.
I had the smoothie for breakfast the last three days and today and I think I might be giving up coffee because of this thing (it’s about time). Today I also added a pinch of cinnamon to the other two ingredients and wow, I think I’m going to keep it up. It felt like I’m drinking a super tasty treat.
Are Smoothies Good for Breakfast?
Smoothies can be good for breakfast – they’re nutritious, full of antioxidants, fiber and minerals. That’s a great way to start your day. The only thing you need to consider when making a smoothie for breakfast is that it’s filling enough. You don’t want to be starving by 10 am.
Ingredients For A Filling Breakfast Smoothie
Fruits and vegetables are the main ingredients in smoothies, but as healthy as they are, they will not fill you up for a long time. You drink your smoothie in the morning, then 15 minutes later: I need a snack.
In order to make a filling smoothie for breakfast, try adding some of these ingredients to your blender:
- nut or seed butter
- hemp seeds
- chia seeds
- soaked cashews
- flax meal
- oats
- yogurt
- coconut milk
You can do one of them or a combination for a filling breakfast shake.
This particular almond butter banana smoothie is perfect for breakfast since I put a little bit more almond butter in it. I did this mostly because I wanted the taste of almonds to be the more dominant one here. If you don’t want the almond taste to dominate your smoothie use less of it.
How To Make This Everyday Breakfast Smoothie
It’s easy. Put the frozen banana and almond butter into your blender cup, add some water or milk of choice, some cinnamon if desired and blend until super smooth.
That’s it! Your super simple healthy smoothie is ready for breakfast.
Everyday Breakfast Smoothie Benefits
Almond butter is very calorie-dense, but it also makes this smoothie very nutritious. At around 350 kcal, you get a great amount of iron and vitamin E, a good amount of protein, fiber, and potassium. Which are all so important for our overall health and so non-existent in regular pancakes or eggs with bacon.
This smoothie recipe is vegan, paleo, gluten-free and dairy-free, I really hope you like it.
More Options
If you want to make a healthy smoothie every day for breakfast, here are some variations you can try:
- add in some greens like spinach or kale if you like it
- throw in some berries like strawberries or blueberries
- change the butter – you can definitely use peanut, sunflower seed, cashew or even hazelnut butter
