Today’s a good day because we’ll learn how to make a simple tomato salad using tomatoes and other stuff, but mostly tomatoes. This salad tastes like tomatoes but isn’t as simple as just chopping some red round things, putting them into a bowl and then drowning them in olive oil. Okay, it pretty much is, but we need a recipe for it. Because we’ll also add some basil and arugula in there. You need a certificate to do that. You can print it out at the end of this post. I’ve procrastinated the crap out of writing anything here for the last, how many now, 2-3 weeks, because I was on vacation and had a minor, but painful health problem, which I don’t want to talk about because I’m a closed book without a cover, so you can’t judge me by that. Today I’m back in the game and things are gonna get better. Just wait until you dip some crusty bread into this delicious tomato salad.
Ingredients For This Tomato Salad
The Secret Ingredient: Tomatoes. It’s definitely summer already if it’s not where you are, I’m sorry for you, but yesterday I was dripping sweat just standing there doing what I usually do – nothing. That’s a good indicator it’s summer here, because I always carry a thick blanket with me everywhere and I actually left it in the car and was okay. Even in the evening. So summer, what do we eat during summer? That’s right – tomatoes. Choose the best, juiciest and sweetest tomatoes. The ones that make you feel like real food without GMO and toxins in it actually still exists.
Arugula. My favorite leafy green, because it tastes like something. It also helps detox your liver and makes you a better person overall.
Basil. Like, who am I to deny basil its right to participate in a tomato salad? Tomatoes and basil are like that. (putting my fingers together). They’re really close, they’re like brothers from different fathers. And basil is also one of the best herbs out there.
Olive oil. Not really as popular as coconut oil, but try adding coconut oil to this salad and you’d know it doesn’t work. Extra virgin olive oil is great in salads and TV shows.
Olives. Use Kalamata olives or any type of olives you like to add something salty to contrast the sweetness of the tomatoes.
Garlic. We need some of this aphrodisiac because life’s too short to not enjoy garlic on a regular basis.
Green onions. And some green onions, because garlic might not be enough of a refresher.
