3 simple ingredients are all you need to make this filling and super healthy green breakfast smoothie!

I haven’t written anything about glowing skin in about a year now. Green smoothie for glowing skin look at me, I’m pretentious. So, as many of you might know from reading scientific literature, us humans aren’t getting younger as time goes by.

That’s right, I’m feeling old this year and I cannot lie. And so along with trying to lose a few inches here and there for summer, I’ve now made it my mission to get more carotenoids, vitamin C and vitamin E into my diet.

Why you ask?

Well, you didn’t…but let’s pretend. Ready or not, I’m answering: Because these 3 antioxidants prevent premature aging.

BOOM.

It’s best when you get these three together, so they can mix and mingle, laugh, party and then fight crime. They get stronger and can perform miracles when they’re a team. Miracles like making the wrinkles on my forehead smooth out.

Some say aging is not fun, in reality premature aging is the evil one.

Are Green Smoothies Good For Breakfast?

No secret here, green smoothies are filled with vegetables and fruit and are therefore very healthy. Getting a good serving of fruits and vegetables in the morning will provide your body with essential nutrients and non-essential antioxidants to help you feel great during the day. Plus, as a long-term bonus, they protect your health and prevent a number of diseases.

How To Make A Green Breakfast Smoothie

  • add frozen banana, greens and nut butter to your blender
  • blend until smooth
  • enjoy!

The trick to making a green smoothie for breakfast is to add in some calorie dense foods. Think nuts, seeds, whole grains or avocado. This will keep you full longer, so you don’t end up starving and snacking on everything in sight that early in the day.

Green Breakfast Smoothie Ingredients

There are only 3 ingredients in this spinach smoothie, but it is more filling than most, therefore great for breakfast. And the ingredients are (drumroll):

  • almond butter
  • spinach
  • frozen banana

I used a frozen banana, ( <- name something you said you’d never do a year ago) because it cools off the smoothie and makes it creamier.

Benefits Of This Green Smoothie

This recipe might have only 3 ingredients, but they’re all superfoods and great sources of antioxidants.

  • vitamin E from the almond butter
  • vitamin C and carotenoids from that spinach
  • some potassium and fiber from that banana (just an added bonus).

The beauty of this breakfast smoothie is in this particular antioxidant combination. Don’t get me wrong, water-soluble vitamin C is an incredible antioxidant on its own, but as a team with fat-soluble vitamin E and the carotenoids they protect each other and the cell as a whole.

It’s called synergies. Google it. Or don’t better make this green smoothie first. Before someone gives me a lecture: I also know spinach doesn’t have a TON of vitamin C, still, it’s enough.

If you’re more ambitious and say, I don’t want to give those free radicals and wrinkles a chance, well then, you need to be braver and add some kale to this thing. Kale’s got more of many things.
